Abstract/Contents:Describes three studies pertaining to sports fields conducted at different European research stations: a study on the ability of turf to withstand the Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI) in Bingley, United Kingdom; a study on the construction of athletic fields at the Justus Lubig-Universitat in Giessin, West Germany; and a program developed at the Netherlands Sports Federation Research Station to improve the playing surface on the country's sports fields. Concludes that in order to "intensify research relating to turfgrass management and evaluation of artificial surfaces for athletic fields...the universities must receive monetary support from the groups or organizations who would benefit most."
