Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the differences between sands used in USGA greens and those used by the Department of Transportation. States that "typical construction sands should not be used for putting greens. They are either too coarse and droughty or have a wide particle size range, making the sand dense and impermeable." Also discusses the use of topdressings, including peat mixes. Also states that "if you want attractive bunkers, even, smooth putting greens, and healthy growing greens it is imperative that you choose the proper sand and continue to use the sand intended for each specific purpose." Discusses the importance of proper soil mixes for growing turfgrass. |
