| Abstract/Contents: | "There are currently several terms, such as forage-type, standard, dwarf, and semi-dwarf, which are used to describe the various turf-type tall fescues. These terms have yet to be quantified. In the fall of 1998, a spaced-plant tall fescue nursery was established at Adelphia, New Jersey. Thirty-six cultivars and selections were arranged in a complete block design with 5 replications consisting of 11 plants per cultivar or selection. Morphological measurements were taken on the plants in June of 1999 and 2000. Several measurements were taken including: mature plant height, heading date, panicle length, flag leaf length, flag leaf width, subtending leaf length, and subtending leaf width[.] Results from year one indicate that four distinct groupings could be made based on these measurements. Correlations with brown patch resistance and turf quality will also be discussed." |
