| Abstract/Contents: | "Trinexapac-ethyl (Primo) has been in commercial use as a turfgrass growth regulator since 1993. Vertical turf growth or shoot elongation is reduced and overall turf density is usually increased. Lateral growth from stolonization and tillering often results from repeat applications. Tests were conducted in 1999 where hybrid bermudagrass sod was cut and sprigged into bare soil to simulate fairway grow in. Prior to sprigging, the sod to be cut and sprigged was either left untreated, or was sprayed with Trinexapac-ethyl at 0.2 and 0.4 kg ha-1. Sprigging rate was 2.14 x 10 e4 kg ha-1. Some plots were treated, post-sprigging, with Trinexapac-ethyl at 0.2 and 0.4 kg ha-1. Turf density within each plot was rated visually and with a digital camera and Sigma Scan r digital analysis software. The high rate of Trinexapac-ethyl, applied both pre and post-sprigging, was the only treatment that produced 100% ground cover within eight weeks and was significantly different (alpha =0.05) from the other treatments." |
