| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses biological control systems for turfgrass snow mold diseases. Mentions that cost and environmental concerns surrounding typical fungicides has led researchers to investigate alternative management approaches. Briefly discusses Typhula phacorrhiza, a close relative of the organisms that cause gray snow mold. Experimental results showed that some isolates of Typhula phacorrihiza have the ability to suppress gray snow mold, though a test involving suppression of pink snow mold was not carried out. Suggests that the required "toxicological examination of biological control agents may be the major obstacle to their implementation since the costs are prohibitive." |
