Abstract/Contents: | Defines irrigation, transpiration, evaporation, evapotranspiration, intake rate, precipitation rate, field capacity, and evapotranspiration rate. States that "there are many factors that can influence the irrigation requirements for a particular project. Cutting height, mowing frequency, application of fertilizer, soil conditions, sun exposure, shade, slope and irrigation frequency all influence the irrigation requirements and zone selection" and that "a good understanding of precipitation rates, intake rate, evapotranspiration, and fieled capacity gives the contractor or designer better knowledge of the irrigation system. There is more to irrigation than just setting the clocks for 15-20 minutes a night." |
