Abstract/Contents: | Discusses water use becoming "the dominant issue worldwide in the turf industry, just as the use of herbicides and pesticides had been the major issue of the past 20 years" and the increased need for drought resistant grasses. States that "turfgrass plant breeders had failed to produce truly drought-tolerant varieties as they had not focused on the critical parts of the plants" leading to "a lot of hype from breeders and companies about their plants, but most...paying only lip service to producing drought-tolerant plants." Also discusses the need to "identify ecotypes within species that were most drought tolerant." |
