Abstract/Contents:Gives an update on two subsurface drip irrigation projects at the Center for Irrigation Technology, being performed at the California State University in Fresno, California. The first report explains that "currently, there are no visible signs of 'streaking' in the turf area, which has been a reported concern for SDI in turf applications." States "overall, the system is still meeting expectations of producing good quality turfgrass. The system is relatively new, however, and CIT will continue to monitor and report on the SDI system's performance." States that the 2nd project "is designed to compare yield, water use...and SDI systems." Reports that "the biggest benefit...[is] wee suppression." Also mentions the SDI system's susceptability to damage from gophers as a potential problem leading to costly and excessive repairs.
