Abstract/Contents: | Gives an overview of the history of drip irrigation. Discusses the benefits of drip irrigation: low application rate, uniformity of water application, controlled rootzone environment, improved disease control, overcoming difficult terrain and soils, water conservation, chemical application efficiency, improved tolerance to salinity, energy conservation, increased growth, and improved landscape plant quality. Also lists many of the drawbacks to drip irrigation including high maintenance, high susceptibility to damage by pests, and a greater need for pressure control. |
