Abstract/Contents:Discusses the influence of irrigation systems, golf green speed, and improved golf equipment on golf course design. Golf course design has tended toward extending the back tees to compensate for these factors, which causes an unfair challenge for weaker golfers. States that "the answer is simple: new back tees compensate for better equipment and forward tees should return the playing characteristics and strategies that the original architect intended for the average and high handicappers."
