Abstract/Contents:Presents a study "find out differences in N [nitrogen] leaching between various N forms, in an established turf on a sand based construction in lysimeters with a depth of 1 m, and to gain more information about the leaching of other nutrients." The four fertilizers evaluated are ammonium nitrate, IBDU, ureaformaldehyde, and methylene urea. Reports that "in all the years, we find highest dry matter production when only readily soluble nitrogen (ammonium nitrate) is applied." Also reports that "ureaform produced the lowest growth of the grass in all years, followed by methylene urea. IBDU showed the highest dry matter production efficiency of the tested slow-release fertilizers." IBDU also "produced the lowest amounts of dead sward material for verticutting." Suggests that "leaching of Mg and Ca requires close attention, at least on sandy soils and with low soil supply, to avoid plant deficiencies."
