Abstract/Contents:"A manually transmissible virus isolated form St. Augustinegrass in Florida was identified as sugarcane mosaic virus strain E (SCMV-E). The host range of this virus was limited to the Gramineae. Of 138 flexuous rod particles measured 89 were 655-782 nm long with a normal length of 711nm. Pinwheel, circle, bundle, and laminated aggregate inclusions occurred in diseased tissue. This virus was transmitted in a stylet-borne manner from corn to corn by Schizaphis graminum and Rhopalosiphum maidis aphids.
