Abstract/Contents:"Low-drift nozzles applying 0.6-1.21/min at 3 bar were used to investigate the control of weeds at the cotyledon stage using contact herbicides. These nozzles were also compared with a standard flat-fan nozzle, and a twin-fluid nozzle (Airtec) for control of leaf diseases on winter wheat with systemic fungicides. In this investigation, a parallel measurement of spray deposit and evaluation of biological efficacy were done. In general, biological efficacy with low volume, fine to medium low-drift nozzles was comparable to that of a standard flat-fan nozzle. On the other hand, a reduced efficacy was seen in some of the difficult weed control applications, using a coarse low-drift nozzle. The differences between the nozzle types tested were small regarding control of leaf diseases in winter wheat with systemic fungicides."
