| Abstract/Contents: | "The rates of degradation of 14C-benefin (N-butyl-N-ethyl- α,α,α-trifluoro-2,6-dinitro-p-toluidine) and 14C-DCPA (dimethyl tetrachloroterephthalate) were significantly faster in thatch than in soil from a Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.) turf. These results suggest that herbicides applied preemergence in turf will persist for shorter periods of time because of the carbon-enriched medium (thatch) and that higher rates or more frequent application may be required to maintain concentrations at effective levels." |
