| Abstract/Contents: | "The effect of surfactants on the release kinetics of hydrophobic lignin based matrices was investigated by incorporating nonionic & anionic surfactants. The surfactant-incorporated lignin matrices were prepared with fluometuron as a model compound using a melt process. The release patterns were examined using an open multi-channel flow-through cell system with an in-line detector. Incorporation of surfactants affected the release rates of fluometuron to various extents, which could be primarily related to the type and amount of surfactants added. The water solubility of anionic surfactants was correlated strongly to the changes in release rates. For nonionic surfactants, however, more complex relationships accounted for the changes in the release rates." |
