Abstract/Contents:Details a study designed to "determine if high nitrogen rates altered the efficacy of Chipco Proxy on clipping yield reduction or quality of Kentucky bluegrass turf at fairway height." Results include that "the effects of Proxy were generally not influenced by nitrogen rate. In fact, Proxy only significantly reduced clipping yields during one week approximately three weeks following application. At four weeks after application the high rate of nitrogen actually enhanced the effects of Proxy compared to the low rate of nitrogen. Turf quality was significantly increased by the high rate of nitrogen. Proxy did not affect turf quality and did not interact with nitrogen rates at any date." Cautions that "in the current study the weather was conducive for Kentucky bluegrass growth during most of the trial period, and it is possible the optimal growth conditions overrode the ability of Proxy to consistently reduce yields. No growth stimulation was seen as the expected period of growth retardation neared the end."
