Abstract/Contents:Presents the results of an experiment to "determine if Primo could enhance the establishment rate of creeping bentgrass fairway turf." Turf quality, percent turf cover, percent weed cover, and plant growth characteristics were evaluated. Results include that "Primo did not enhance creeping bentgrass establishment at any of the rates evaluated during the spring/summer establishment period...Primo did not enhance shoot or stolon density, stolon length, or root mass...the 2x rate of Primo occasionally provided better turf quality during periods of heat stress compared to the control and other treatment rates...turf quality decreased during the study for all treatments, likely due to heat stress and lack of additional fertility." Notes that "further investigations during cooler conditions may be warranted (e.g., early spring or early autumn). Growth of creeping bentgrass is slowed during high temperatures and the turf may respond differently under cooler temperatures."
