Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study to evaluate various chemical products for suppression of ant mounds appearing in turf areas. Ant mounds were counted pre- and post-treatment to gauge the efficacy of the treatment. Results include that "it appears that Chipco Choice is not an effective ant control product, however due to its chemical properties, it requires a longer duration of time to effectively release from the inert carrier in which it is formulated. Consequently, this study will be continued in 2000 to determine the residual activity of Chipco Choice. As for DeltaGard, it provided marginal control (I.e., >80% [<80%]) of ant mounds both at 7 and 14 days after treatment. Typically, synthetic pyrethroids have shorter residual activity than other conventional chemistries. As a result, multiple or repeated applications may be necessary." |
