Abstract/Contents:"The rough consisted primarily of annual bluegrass (60%), Kentucky bluegrass (30%), and perennial ryegrass (10%). Treatment plots were 9 X 6 ft, arranged in a randomized complete block design and replicated 3 times. Liquid formulations were applied by using a CO2 sprayer with 4 8004VS TeeJet nozzles mounted on a 6-ft boom, operating at 28 psi and delivering 5 gal/1000 sq ft. Granular formulations were applied with a hand-held shaker and mixed with a fine grade sand top dressing to facilitate product distribution. At treatment time (27 Apr), the following soil and environmental conditions existed: air temperature, 56F; soil temperature, 58F RH 42%; amount of thatch, 0.25-1.0 inches; soil type, loam; soil size separation. 38.2% sand, 43.6T silt, 18.2% clay; soil moisture, 8.5%; soil pH 6.5; % organic matter, 2.8; water pH, slightly acidic; 3.0 inches of rainfall was recorded over the posttreatment period. The experimental area was not irrigated after treatment. Posttreatment counts were made 24 days later (21 May). Three sq ft sod samples were randomly taken from each replicate and the total number of northern masked chafer and Asiatic garden beetle grubs/sq ft was recorded. An average of 17.7 northern masked chafer grubs and Asiatic garden beetle grubs/sq ft was recorded on 27 Apr. Posttreatment counts completed on 21 May showed that 7 treatments provided significant control. No phytotoxicity was recorded."
