Abstract/Contents:9 tropical grasses rain-grown at Veteran near Gympie in S.E. Queensland were treated with 25, 50 or 100 kg N/ha on 10 occasions at 8-wk intervals. N conc. in plant tops increased and K conc. decreased with increasing N application. Mean N conc. in the tops was highest at 2.4% in Pennisetum clandestinum cv. Whittet and lowest at 1.9% in Chloris gayana cv. Callide and Katambora. P conc. was highest in Whittet at 0.38% and lowest in Paspalum plicatulum cv. Bryan at 0.25%. K conc. was highest in cv. Whittet at 2.53% and cv. Narok at 2.29% and lowest in cv. Katambora at 1.48%. The results are discussed in relation to animal and plant nutrition.
