Abstract/Contents:Discusses genetic transformation, its regulation by federal groups in the United States, its possible capabilites in the future, its disadvantages (including public antipathy and legislation and development of resistance in natural weed populations), and the ethics of genetic transformation. Concludes that "in the end, [genetic transformation] will provide some useful benefits... what is needed now is a directed effort to gain public acceptance to minimize the public antipathy which is already occurring."
