Abstract/Contents:Explains fescue grasses, which had not been prominent with the turfgrass industry previously, to have recently become stronger in the use for grasses because of the positive attributes it does possess. Some of these characteristics are: low maintenance requirements, slow growth (with a mature height of only 8 to 12 inches), unnecessary volume fertilization, and the ability to thrive in both northern and southern climates. Discusses two main types of native fescues (red and sheep), describing subspecies and cultivars of red fescue having been developed for use in turfgrass blends. Includes: Growing fine fescues; No-mow mix; Turfgrass cultivars.
