Abstract/Contents: | Summarizes the BioCyle 2000 survey on biosolids. States that "in a nutshell, beneficial use programs are holding their own...almost half of the states reporting recycled more than half of the biosolids generated. Eight states...beneficially use over 90 percent. Biosolids quality appears to be improving. The onslaught of bans and ordinances restricting beneficial use seems to be abating." Also discusses the top three pressures on biosolids recycling programs being odors, concern about pathogens, and suburban sprawl. |
