Abstract/Contents:Discusses the causes of and solutions to the problem of root rot. Describes causes of root rot including nematodes, plant pathogen fungi, and soil anaerobic conditions such as flooding or standing water. Details methods of recovery from a root rot problem including foliar nutrition, raised cutting height, water management and pesticide treatments. Discusses methods of prevention. States that "since you can never eliminate these pathogens from the turfgrass root system, you must learn how to manage the turfgrass so that the disease never occurs or the damage to the plant is minimized." Also states to "take the time to determine why the problem is occuring or has occurred, as that may be your most important clue as to the appropriate preventative measures to incorporate into your management program."
