Abstract/Contents:Describes the importance of soil in the growth of turfgrass. Explains the philosophy needed behind soil testing along with the importance of having a control sample from a turf production area. Addresses the suggested ranges for MechlichI extractable soil nutrient levels for Florida Turfgrass and the desirable pH ranges for turfgrasses. Also summarizes the chemical compositions and calcium carbonate equivalents of liming materials. Illustrates the importance of fertilization and recommends what nutrients and levels should be looked for, like nitrogen, phosphorus, poatssium, maganese, zinc, copper and iron. Suggests "knowledge of a few basic facts concerning the nutritional requirements of turfgrass and the properties of fertilizer and liming materials is essential."
