| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the performance of plant growth regulators (PGRs) for athletic turf field. Lists benefits of PGRs from spring through fall. Suggests using PGRs in spring for: creating a strong surface that can endure the stress of play and weather; improving appearance of green; and fighting the establishment of Poa. In summer, PGRs are used: to reduce frequent mowing; to reduce the need for fungicides and improve drough tolerance; to help turf stand up to stress (e.g., low mowing, heat, disease, drought); to enhance recovery of the wear and tear; and to promote golf course performance. Lists benefits of using PGRs in autumn, to assist with overseeding; to reduce time for line painting; and to prepare turf for winter. |
