| Abstract/Contents: | "Professionalism and education go hand in hand." Nobody can get better at something unless they are taught, either by someone else or their own experience. Most of successful people got there because they had great teachers. When Hamilton trains employees he starts by having them do every job on the golf course for a determined period of time. Next he allows them to spend time in specialty positions. In the duration of the time these employees spend with them he requires them to read Turfgrass books and are tested on the material they learn. In addition he allows them to attend one superintendents meeting while they are with him. In the last few stages of the training he helps them prepare a resume and interviews them until he feels they are ready to go out on their own. He believes if he can help one person the way he was helped then it was time well spent. |
