| Abstract/Contents: | Profiles the Rhode Island Agricultural Experiment Station and its turfgrass research program. Discusses the station's long term experiments with respect to the effect of different fertilizer mixtures. Describes the results of the experiment and observations made from them by B.L. Hartwell and S.C. Damon. Discusses the conclusions drawn from further expansion on the original fertilizer experiments. Discusses research done with regard to the use of sulphate of ammonia as a Nitrogen source for turfgrass. Discusses different approaches to find slow release inorganic nitrogen sources including urea-formaldehyde, resin coated fertilizers, and urea-impregnated petroleum wax. Also discusses suggested chemical balance, timing, and frequency of fertilizer use. |
