| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the challenges Lawrie Woods faced before the official opening of the Yeppoon Bowls Club in Central Queensland, where he is the greenkeeper. Woods explains that "the Tifdwarf stolons were scarified from the existing Yeppoon green that was still in play and bowlers were able to play on the green the next day." Woods describes the greenkeeping practices involved in maintaining the greens. Discusses the work done on the new clubhouse at Yeppoon Bowls Club. Woods explains that "during the Summer 2000-01 both greens were fully renovated and the Turfgrass Technology recomomendations were again applied to both greens to help prevent pythium before the hot and humid conditions were upon us and the greens were susceptible to summer decline." Woods states that "I am confident that the pythium problem in Yeppoon greens will be eradicated and any further outbreaks will be kept under control." |
