| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses advantages and disadvantages of using sand in the construction of sports fields. Discusses three major mistakes that have often been made in topdressing existing sport fields: 1) potholes or depressed areas of a field have been filled where water tends to stand, 2) thin layers (1-2 inches) of sand have been placed over areas where the turf is completely gone, and 3) selection of a typical sharp plaster or concrete sand. Remedies to these problems are discussed and maintenance procedures outlined. |
