| Abstract/Contents: | Describes vegetated buffer stripes which are usually "an area around the edge of a water body speciffically maintained with plants that reduce water flow and potential pollution from runoff." Addresses the criteria for choosing a buffer that is appropriate for your site, taking into consideration "slope, the type of vegetation, playability, and the potential pollution from maintenance practices, including chemical applications." Suggests that "this type of naturalization alters both the aesthetics and wildlife value of streams, lakes, and ponds," but that " a turfgrass buffer remains a valuable management strategy." |
