Abstract/Contents:Presents a study to "evaluate N-release patterns from various N-carriers under Tifway bermudagrass mowed at 5/8 inch." Results for 1994 include that "the longer chain UF [urea formaldehyde] materials are slow release...the CWIN and HWIN fractions of UF release N by microbial activity over several weeks or months...The urea and methylene urea components are available over a few days to several weeks...IBDU slowly dissolves in water and is formulated in two particle sizes. Nitrogen release is affected by moisture, particule sizes, somewhat by temperature with 2-3X release at 80° versus 50°F, and release is best between pH 5 to 8...Triazine...slowly dissolves and then is degraded by microbial activity...N release is relatively slow and may be over 4 to 6 months...N-Sure is unique in that it is a liquid, but exhibits sufficient slow release of N to be classifed as a slow release material. However, N is available over a relatively short period of time."
