Abstract/Contents:Suggests less toxic methods for dandelion control. Methods include physical controls, such as pulling out the dandelions along with their roots, hot water weeders, radiant heat weeders, or simply pouring boiling water or vinegar on plants. Also suggests applying corn gluten meal to turf to prevent sprouting and avoiding using fertilizers that contain potassium as they will encourage dandelion growth. Asserts that the most effective prevention method is maintaining a healthy lawn. Also points out the benefits that dandelions can provide, such as attracting pest aphid consuming ladybugs and soil aeration.
