| Abstract/Contents: | Reports findings of an experiment designed to test the sensitivity of the grass Koeleria macrantha to soil magnesium with varying calcium and magnesium ratios. Plants were grown over periods of 12 and 14 weeks; roots and shoots were then given mixed acid digestion and calcium and magnesium levels were evaluated. States that experiment results show that K.macrantha "has a higher substrate Mg tolerance than other members of the Poaceae: its reported absence from the South Wales dolomitic limestone is unlikely to be due to soil magnesium sensitivity." |
