| Abstract/Contents: | Presents weed research in South Florida, which shows that goosegrass is considered the most serious weed in tolf turf. Lists most serious weed of bermudagrass in south Florida; the five top weeds are goosegrass, torpedograss, crabgrasses, tropical signalgrass, and off-type bermudagrass. Explains how "seriousness" was defined as "a combination of complaints by members and loss of use, with a smaller emphasis on the expense of chemical control." Displays the results that clean spring source; bermuda off-type contamination has the most relative importance followed by concern about weeding and invasion from non-play areas, ornamental grasses, lake margins; and spot treatment of goosegrass. States that goosegrass is prevented by several preemergence herbicides. Discusses how the previous research helps control serious weeds. |
