Abstract/Contents: | Discusses late summer fertilization of turfgrasses. States that "applying the majority of the fertilizer in the late summer or fall, produces healthier turf by improving the balance between root and shoot growth." Explains that "late season fertilization should be made when the soil temperatures are still warm for the fertilizer to be absorbed by roots, usually from mid-October to the end of November depending on the region." Briefly discusses thatch removal and aeration. Describes the selection of fertilizer for fall fertilization. Discusses application timing and rates. Also describes fertilization during dormancy. |
