USGA Summary Points:Researchers demonstrated the feasibility of molecular methods of characterizing microbial communities in turfgrass soils. In 2002, they plan to further develop this methodology, working primarily with soil microcosms, examining two typical rootzone profiles (a USGA-based profile and a soil-based profile). Researchers are planning to create bacterial artificial chromosome libraries of soil DNA which may lead to the creation of a complete phylogenic tree of microorganisms in the two rootzone profiles.
