Abstract/Contents:Discusses an experiment to "develop a plant bioassay to detect herbicide contamination of compost." Details how tomatoes, peas, and beans were analyzed as possible bioassay vehicles. Results include that "the pea bioassay seems more sensitive than the analytical test." Concludes that "compost feedstocks...should be screened using the bean bioassay to detect herbicide contamination prior to composting."
