| Abstract/Contents: | "In a greenhouse test sting nematodes (Belonolaimus longicaudatus) caused severe yellowing and stunting of tops and stunting of the roots of Ormond Bermuda grass. In field studies with sting nematodes on Ormond Bermuda grass in sandy soil, O,O-diethyl O-p-(methylsulfinyl)phenyl phosphorothioate (Bayer 25141 2 lb/gal. and 10% granular formulation) applied at 8 and 16 pounds' active ingredient per acre gave excellent nematode control and increased grass vigor for more than 12 months. O-2,4-Dichlorophenyl O,O-diethyl phosphorothioate (V-C 13) was ineffective at the two rates tested." |
