Abstract/Contents:"The effects of growth regulators on growth, emergence of inflorescence and the level of endogenous growth-promoting and growh-inhibiting substances were investigated. The growth regulators used were gibberellic acid (GA), 6-benzyladenine (BA) and abscisic acid (ABA). And the plant materials were Zoysia matrella, cultivar Korai and Crnodon dactylon, cultivar Tifton 328. Promoting of growth with GA treatment was significant, but no effect was recognized in the case of BA and ABA treatments. The plants treated with GA showed the performance of up-right growing and color determination. These resulted in lowering of turf quality. For K么rai, the emergence of inflorescence in autumn was fully suppressed by the treatment development of inflorescence was promoted by the treatment with ABA. These facts suggested that for K么rai which was a short day plant, the differentiation of inflorescence was induced with the high level of endogenous ABA and prevented with the high level of GA. Based on the Rf value of paper chromatography, it was assumed that the growth promoting gibberellin-like substances contained in Zoysia and Bermuda grass were mainly constituted of GA3. The high level of GA3 was detected in the extract of the plants sprayed GA3. And in the case of ABA spray, the level of ABA heightened."
