| Abstract/Contents: | Describes a new recycling initiative in San Francisco, California, with three carts: one for trash, one for comingled recyclables, and one for compostables. Discusses the efforts to communicate to residents on properly utilizing the recycling carts. Also discusses the benefits of the recycling program, including diversion, safety and convenience, reduced scavenging and litter, public acceptance and participation, and increased efficiency. Also focuses on commercial collection successes, rates and program funding, and future expansion. |
