Abstract/Contents: | Highlights a study to "try to determine the factors behind summer decline in root activity and quality" in Penncross, Crenshaw, L'93 and Providence bentgrasses. Results include that "severe summer decline occurred in turf quality, photosynthetic capacity and root growth in all four cultivars. Mowing at 1/8 inch caused severe decline in turf quality and root growth because of reduced leaf area, green leaf biomass and photochemical efficiency, especially during summer." |
