Abstract/Contents:Discusses what has been written and debated about pesticides in the last decade. States that "some of it has been sensationalized, some of it inaccurate, some of it right on the mark, and at least some of it downright puzzling." Focuses on the two major points "that some people in the public feel that pesticides should not be used for cosmetic purposes" and "that pesticides are used in turf and it is often in close proximity to people and pets." Also discusses positive developments in pesticides and biological and cultural control. Concludes that "pesticides are valuable and important in many situations. They will most certainly be a part of the future of turfgrass management."
