Abstract/Contents: | Profiles white grubs, focusing on control techniques. States that "overall, white grubs are more widespread and have a wider impact in turf settings than any other insect, particularly in cool-season turf." Describes the life cycle of a white grub, especially their feeding, mating and reproducing patterns. Contrasts different soil and feeding preferences and reproduction patterns for various grub species. Included in this contrast are Japanese beetles, European chafers, Oriental bettles, Asiatic garden beetles, Northern and Southern masked chafers and Green June beetles. States that "more than ever, turf managers must ascertain which species of grubs may be present in their turf because management strategies vary." |
