Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study to "determine the influence of eight N management regimes on establishment of Tifway 419 bermudagrass, quantity of N uptake, and quantity of N lost via leaching." Results include that "N loss via leaching during establishment can be reduced by following a progressive-type application regime without adversely affecting tissue uptake or coverage rate. By applying N at low rates when turf density is low, and increasing N rates as turf density increases, N leaching can be reduced. Nitrogen source is also important in regards to N leaching, with the addition of sewage sludge to soluble N fertilizers tending to increase N leaching. However, addition of SCU and IBDU to the sewage sludge + soluble N treatments decreased N leaching." |
