| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a project "to ascertain environmental benefits of the Florida Yards and Neighborhoods program." Results for year one include that "annual N leaching losses were significantly greater on the mixed-species landscape resulting in 4.80g N/sq m compared to 0.41g N/sq m during the first year that included establishment of both landscapes...Despite using a 10% slope for plots at the FLREC during the study, only one minor runoff event occurred (>0.2 cm) and N losses from each landscape type was [were] insignificant...A longer establishment period was required for the mixed-species plants compared to the St. Augustinegrass...Significantly lower evapotranspiration was observed from the mixed species landscape during the first four-month fertilizer cycle." |
