| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses various types of canned aerosol insecticides. States that "a true aerosol consists of fine droplets of liquid ranging in size between 0.1 and 100 microns. . .pyrethrins and other fast-acting, short residual contact insecticides and syndergists are packaged in aerosol producing pressurized cans that produce droplets primarily in the 20- to 30-micron range." Discusses foggers, which generate aerosols "at the lowest end of the aerosol scale - typically in the 0.1- to five-micron range." Describes the various uses for aerosols, including "to treat a large volume of space. . .injected inside cracks, crevices, and voids; directed into a limited open area. . .[and] to flush pests out of cracks, crevices, voids and other hiding places." Discusses following the label on aerosol cans for safety and to ensure the correct dosage. Suggests calculating the volume of a room or space before applying a space treatment. States that "a space treatment will not penetrate boxes or enclosed equipment or enter cracks or crevices. To improve your space treatments, you should open drawers, cabinets and equipment panels to ensure that the insecticide gets inside." |
