Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the new Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002,"the new six-year plan that increases spending for farm programs by 70 percent from the previous bill." Describes the functions of various programs in the bill incuding the Conservation Reserve Program, Wetlands Reserve Program, Grasslands Reserve Program, Farmland Protection Program, Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program, Environmental Quality Incentives Program, Conservation Security Program, and Water Conservation Program. Concludes that "the farm bill of 2002 is providing smiles all across the agricultural community. We now have a firm basis on which to plan our strategies for the next few planting sessions." |
