Describes the historic aspects of the site, including a plantation before the Civil War, the construction of the USS Constitution, and a recently discovered Spanish mission destroyed by pirates in the late 1600s. States that "this colorful history adds to the character of The Hampton Club, whose members have done their part to add another chapter to the history books." Describes the creation of the four marsh island holes west of the mainland. States that "Lee [designer] completed his remarkable design-bending fairways around ancient oaks, stretching landing areas alongside large areas of salt marshes, strategically positioning lagoons and bunkers, and crafting tee boxes and elevated greens from the natural lay of the land." Briefly describes the renovations that took place in 1993. States that "today, following some 150,000 rounds played in our seven years of operation, The Hampton Club still enjoys a reputation as one of the South's finest courses."
