Abstract/Contents:Discusses the use of various herbicides in terms of their effectiveness for selective weed control. A concept that will probably develop in the turf industry involves phytotoxification of the desired perennial grass--removable in one or two mowings--to control undesired grasses and weeds. Also discussed are: Rubigan, and Cutless in combination with Mefluidide or Embark, in regard to inhibiting Poa annua to transition to Agrostis; Chlorflurenol in combination with various herbicides in regard to seedhead inhibition and broadleaf control; organic arsenates and Acclaim in regard to control of Digitaria sanguinalis; Dowca 356 (Tandem) as a pre- and post-emergent herbicide for various annual grass control; Garlon (Triclopyr), complimented by phenoxys, such as 2,4-D as a broad spectrum weed control; DuPont herbicides such as Glean in regard to their very active nature as plant growth regulators and/or as synergists with other herbicides; the Indiana State Highways's use of Telar, Embark, and DuPont WK in terms of application rate and cost for regulation of height and inhibition of seed heads of tall fescue as well as for broadleaf and wild carrot control; Goal, in regard to use for preemergent broadleaf control; Lontrel as a replacement for, and as a compliment to phenoxys for broad spectrum control; fusilade, Poast, Haclom, and Assure for annual and perennial grass control; Cinch as a broadleaf and broad spectrum control; and surfactants such as DuPont WK and X-077, in terms of being more effective in lesser quanitites.
